WE NEED CERTIFIED
REPRESENTATIVES!
Local 1613 needs volunteers in most stations to
serve as certified representatives. At the direction of Chief John McCabe (LER),
(Acting) Chief Fisher
violated an existing agreement regarding training for union representatives.
As a result, we are no longer authorized to conduct
training for union representatives on official time beyond the ridiculously
low amount of 30 per year that was established in the negotiated agreement
back in 1995 when the Border Patrol was half the size it is today. While every other detail, collateral duty, and assignment within
the Border Patrol affords agents assigned to the various duties an opportunity to
be properly trained, (Acting) Chief Fisher would prefer to have untrained union
representatives serve in San Diego Sector. If you are interested in becoming a representative,
please contact your Lead
Representative.
CRITICAL
INCIDENTS:
If you need
representation concerning a critical incident, call PORAC LDF
direct at 1-888-556-5631. In addition, call 800-620-1613
ext. 81 to notify Shawn Moran so that he can coordinate a response with the
attorneys.
DISCIPLINE/ADVERSE ACTIONS:
If you
receive a proposal for a discipline (1-14 day suspension) or adverse action
(15 day suspension to termination)and you want representation from the
union, fax the entire proposal to 1-800-620-1613 the same day you receive
it. Include a cover sheet, a
Designation of Representative form, and list your full name,
duty-station, station phone numbers, assigned shift hours, home address, and
personal contact numbers. Once you fax the documents to the Local, call
800-620-1613 ext. 81 to verify receipt of your fax.
NOTE:
Any delay on your part or failure to provide the above listed
information may result in an untimely response or denied
coverage under the legal service agreement.
If you receive a
proposal for an "official reprimand" and you want representation from the
union, please contact your Lead Union Representative or a Station
Union Representative for representation. Do not fax these proposals to
local.
Remember, YOU only have ten (10) calendar days to respond to these actions! |
