Under the direction of Shawn Moran, the Office
of Member Services will be devoted to improving the communications between
the volunteers (Officers, Directors, Union Representatives) of NBPC Local
1613 and the membership. Shawn will be identifying technology and
improving on past methods for improving communications and increasing
membership participation with the local. Sections of the website that
will fall under the direction of the Office of Member Services are:
Bargaining Agreement, Discipline Index, Discussions Index, Filing a
Grievance, Member Benefits, Member Dispatch, Member Meetings, Message Board,
Rumor Control, Union Forms, and Union Member Rights.
MEMBER ADDRESS UPDATES
In order for you to receive current information from AFGE and Local 1613,
like the AFGE Newsletter "The Government Standard" and information about union
elections and surveys, it is imperative for you to keep your address up-to-date.
Currently, 60% of the Local 1613 membership does not have an updated mailing
address on file with AFGE and will not receive official communications from
AFGE, NBPC, and Local 1613.
The quickest and easiest way to
update your address is:

Login to the
Members Section of the
AFGE website.

After you
are logged in, click on "My Profile" and edit your home
mailing address.
Lead Union Reps, Station Union Reps, and Union members should pass
this info along to their fellow members.
MEMBER BENEFITS
You may obtain access to a significant level of union
benefits through Local 1613.
Currently,
Jim Ashley is the only person authorized by Local
1613 to visit Border Patrol installations throughout the San Diego Sector.
Jim Ashley works for Benefit Architects, which is one of many providers
authorized to offer insurance programs in District 12.

There are independents who
may claim to be an authorized Union benefit provider and do not have the
full faith and backing of the union. These independents are conducting unauthorized
business on government property and should be escorted out. In some
cases, it may be
a fellow agent conducting the business and you may alternatively report the situation
to management. To verify those programs specifically authorized
